The Baltic Sea Hydrogen Conference

Welcome to the Baltic Sea Hydrogen Conference (HyConf 2025), the first edition of an international scientific forum dedicated to the role of hydrogen in achieving a sustainable and climate-neutral energy system. Taking place in Stralsund, Germany, HyConf 2025 provides a platform for experts, researchers, policymakers, and industry representatives from across the Baltic Sea region to exchange knowledge and foster cooperation on hydrogen deployment.

The conference addresses a wide spectrum of hydrogen-related research and innovation, including:

Environmental and social dimensions, including life-cycle assessments, maritime ecosystem impacts, and public acceptance of hydrogen technologies.

Production pathways such as green hydrogen from offshore and onshore renewable resources, electrolysis technologies, and sector coupling with wind, solar, and biomass.

Storage and transport solutions, including hydrogen pipelines, port infrastructure, and liquid and chemical carriers like ammonia and methanol.

Applications in industry and mobility, from decarbonizing steel, chemicals, and shipping to integrating hydrogen into local and regional transport systems.

Systems integration and energy transition planning, covering grid balancing, hybrid renewable-hydrogen concepts, and cross-border energy cooperation in the Baltic region.

Policy, regulation, and market design, with a focus on creating sustainable value chains, investment frameworks, and regional collaboration opportunities.

We are very pleased to inform you that this year we have a great publication cooperation with Springer Nature to publish our proceedings with such an internationally reputable publisher.

By combining scientific research with practical insights from industry and governance, HyConf 2025 aims to accelerate the hydrogen economy in the Baltic Sea region and contribute to Europe’s broader energy transition.
